Don’t be put off by this title of Kuiper’s practical and informative article – it was originally published in Dutch and possibly something was lost in translation when translating the title.
Why is Terman important? He led the largest and longest study of gifted people in the US, also called the Genius Study. Many common conceptions of what gifted people/geniuses are based in Terman’s conclusions, despite the many problems with study’s methodology.

Emotional Intelligence and Career Success Among the Highly Intelligent
Interesting study of a small population of people with an IQ in the 95th percentile and above. Results indicate that the sample group had a lower emotional intelligence than the norm but nonetheless experienced career success. Career success being defined as: rate of pay and promotions.

Giftedness in Women
I’m Not Gifted, I’m Just Busy: Unrecognized Giftedness in Women
Article by Linda Kreger Silverman exploring how theories of giftedness apply to women. Applicable to women AND men for its discussion of the differences between giftedness as a developmental difference (who one is) and success and achievement (what one does).
Virginia Woolf’s classic essay in response to the Bloomsbury’s Group’s challenge: why is there no female Shakespeare? Provides context of what we value in our society and how gifts traditionally associated with women are perceived by both women and men. Also, argues that giving birth and womens’ primary responsibility for childrearing affects what and how women contribute to society. Particularly interesting in its contemporary relevance even though it was written in 1929.
Counselling Gifted and Talented Girls
This article focuses on adolescents, however, it still relevant for adults (though the article assumes that everyone will go to college). Outlines what influences gifted girls (and women) in making career choices and includes examples of how girls/women specifically can re-conceptualize how they think about their careers.
